Meet the Owners

Dan and Jana Coleman have been coaching championship gymnasts from Level 1 to the Elite level since 1993, with many of their athletes earning college scholarships. They are the only coaches in Utah to have trained gymnasts to the International Elite level and to have coached athletes on both the USA National Team and the Puerto Rico National Team. They trained with the USA National Team coaching staff for many years, further refining their expertise at the highest levels of the sport.

Dan has extensive experience in training, conditioning, and rehabilitating athletes. He studied exercise physiology at Brigham Young University, was a certified Health Fitness Instructor (HFI) with the American College of Sports Medicine, and was a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Over the years, he has personally trained amateur, collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes. In addition, he has served as a head trainer and pool therapist for a major fitness chain.

Jana is a renowned choreographer who has designed championship routines for all levels, including Elite championship routines on the floor exercise and balance beam. In 2023, she was honored as the NGA Coach of the Year for her exceptional contributions to the sport.

Beyond coaching, Dan and Jana have made significant contributions to the sports and entertainment industries. Dan has published fitness articles, worked as a sports announcer and voice-over artist for commercials, served as a motivational speaker, and performed as a stunt double in The Fighting Preacher. Jana has also appeared in commercials and motion pictures and was the stunt coordinator for The Fighting Preacher.

Their dedication to excellence was recognized when they were selected as Olympic Torch Bearers for the 2002 Winter Olympics. As the owners and operators of Arete Gymnastics, they continue to develop top-level athletes, making a lasting impact on the gymnastics community in Utah and beyond.
